Brand New Flooring for Retirement Village
The commercial flooring team at John Lord recently completed a 3000m² flooring project at an over 55s retirement living and housing with care village in Gloucester, managed by housing association Rooftop Housing.
Project Background
The project involved replacing the carpets across 4 floors and all of the staircases within this flagship property – St Oswald’s Retirement Village, to improve the comfort and aesthetics of the building.
Solution
3000m of carpet tiles was installed by a six-strong John Lord team over a period of 6 weeks.
A problematic uplift of the existing floor threatened to delay the project, so an industrial floor stripper was brought in to properly prepare the floor, minimising potential delays to the project.
The site was also a ‘live project’ which meant that the residents were living in the property while the work was ongoing, so extra consideration had to be given to ensure the residents felt safe and respected.
Interface’s Works Sense collection was used for the floors and their Yuton 106 collection for the stairs. Both were chosen for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and suitability for different areas within the building. This choice provides safety under foot and excellent slip resistance while maintaining a luxurious look and feel.
