Polyurethane resin flooring for prison kitchen
Prisons present a unique environment with special requirements for floors, primarily safety, security and hygiene. HMP Grampian was undergoing a complete revamp which included a new flooring solution for the catering facilities. An altogether modern approach was taken and John Lord were brought in to provide a safe, hygienic floor as well as a seamless drainage system for ease of maintenance.
John Lord Uragard floors are polyurethane resin flooring and are developed in-house by our team of chemists to ISO 9001:2008. Both Uragard HT62W and Uragard HT120W were installed as part of the renovation carried out by John Lord. The HT range of heavy-duty, high performance, anti-slip screeds provides superior all-round durability and was selected to provide a long-lasting solution. Kitchens can be particularly harsh environments for floors but the HT range also provides thermal shock resistance from changes in temperature as well as built-in resistance to aggressive chemicals often used during clean downs.
In order to guarantee a safe and hygienic finish, John Lord installed Aspen stainless steel drainage systems to ensure that any liquid is dispersed quickly and efficiently. Bespoke stainless steel sumps and channels were installed as well as stainless steel bar covers providing maximum drainage for emptying out wastewater and other washing facilities.
