A brand-new manufacturing and distribution hub for a growing pet food manufacturer needed a hardwearing hygienic flooring solution throughout the food production areas.

Dogmates, which trades as Butternut Box, is a pet food company that manufactures and delivers freshly cooked pet food direct to consumers through an online subscription service. The new facility in Blyth, Sheffield will support and enhance Butternut’s current operational needs and will be integral to the future growth of the business.

Pentadel were appointed as the main contractor to fit out the internal space and chose John Lord to install the flooring based on a previous working relationship.

As the facility is to be used for food production, the flooring needs to be hygienic, hard-wearing, and easy to clean. John Lord installed a total of 2,800m2 of Uragard HT62W, which lends itself particularly well to food manufacturing facilities due to the high degree of durability and anti-slip resistance.

The resin screed is also incredibly hygienic and resistant to aggressive chemicals often used during clean downs.

Additionally, 125m2 of Vibrogard tiles were used in the baking areas and Aspen stainless steel channel drains and gullies were installed to facilitate cleaning and waste management while keeping a completely hygienic environment.

The installation was completed safely and successfully, while fully adhering to strict Covid-19 measures throughout the project.
